Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner was appointed as advocate Commissioner by the learned Court at Krishnagar, Nadia in connection with a suit pertaining to a land dispute. When he went to inspect the place, he was brutally assaulted by the private respondents who were parties to the civil suit. This is, in fact, indirectly admitted by the private respondents in their communication made to the Bar Association. The petitioner had to be treated in hospital. When he joined back, the private respondents visited the Court premises and again assaulted him. No effective steps were taken by the police in this regard. The miscreants had not been arrested although they had been participating in the trial proceedings.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State relies on the report and submits as follows. As had been submitted earlier, a prayer was made for addition of Section 307 of the

Penal Code in the array of charges. The same was allowed. Raids were conducted. Two persons namely, Kufan Sekh and Golam Sekh could be arrested. However, the others were absconding. But warrant of arrest was issued against them. It appears that investigation is going on.

The Investigating Officer has taken some steps in this regard. Two of the accused were arrested.

Let the investigation be concluded expeditiously and in accordance with law.

No further order need be passed in the regard. With these observations, the writ petition is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order may be supplied to the parties expeditiously, if applied for. (Jay Sengupta, J.)
