gd/ssd Ms. Debjani Ghosal ..for the Union of India Mr. Tapan Kumar Mukherjee, Mr. Somnath Naskar ..for the State Mr. Swapan Kumar Mazumdar ..for Municipality The petitioner had approached this court raising the grievance that the respondents were taking steps to establish and operate a slaughter house at the close proximity of the Samadhis of the Vaishnava Saints on the bank of river Ganges near Manipurghat.

Learned counsel appearing for the State has produced the communication sent by the Joint Secretary to the Government of West Bengal, Department of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs stating that the project has been abandoned by the State.

Learned counsel for the respondent no.6/Nabadwip Municipality has also stated that the project has been given up and the balance amount has been refunded back by the Municipality to the State Government.

In view of the subsequent development, the grievance of the petitioner does not survive. Hence, the petition is dismissed as infructuous.
