The petitioners claim that they are entitled to perform the Kali Puja since their names have been recorded as the Shebaits.

On the other hand, respondent Nos.5 to 8 submit that they have been performing the Kali Puja. This Court is not in a position to decide who are the Shebaits of the deity. This can only be decided by the competent civil court.

In view of the above, I am not inclined to entertain this writ petition.

This Court makes it clear that it has not gone into merits of the claims of the parties.

WPA 26089 of 2024 is accordingly disposed of. (Kausik Chanda, J.)
