Mr. Ramashis Mukherjee Mr. Rameshwar Sinha .....For the petitioner Mr. Supratim Dhar .....For the State The substantial challenge in this writ petition is an order dated May 3, 3028 passed by the Additional District Magistrate and District Land and Land Reforms Officer, South 24-Parganas rejecting the prayer of the petitioner for settlement of land in his favour under Section 49 of the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955 (in short, "the Act"). The impugned decision is an appellable order under Section 54 of the Act. Accordingly, the writ petition cannot be entertained on the ground of lack of jurisdiction. However, if the petitioner prefers an appeal before the competent authority within January 15, 2021, such appeal shall not be rejected on the ground of limitation. With the above direction, the WPA 23738 of 2019 stands dismissed.
