Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner is directed to serve a copy of this revisional application upon Mr. Arani Bhattacharyya, learned advocate, who ordinarily appears for the State. His appointment may be regularised by the concerned authorities.

Mr. Kar, learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is an aged lady and described as motherin-law in the charge-sheet submitted in connection with Rajarhat Police Station Case No. 226 of 2022 under Sections 498A/506/34 of the Indian Penal Code. The said case presently is pending before the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Barasat. Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the present petitioner is 70 years old and as such, the trial of the case must be expedited so that the agony of the criminal trial do not remain with the present petitioner. It has also been pointed out that the next date before the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Barasat is fixed on 09.01.2024 for consideration of charges.

The learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Barasat would try to complete the consideration of charges on the next date so fixed or within a fortnight thereafter. In case after

consideration of charges, the learned Magistrate is of the opinion that trial of the case should continue, in that case the learned Magistrate would fix at least one date in a month so that trial of the case can be taken to its logical conclusion within a reasonable period of time. No unnecessary adjournment should be granted to either of the parties and efforts be taken for concluding the trial at the earliest. If required, the learned Magistrate will inform the Inspector-inCharge, Rajarhat Police Station to act as a nodal officer so that he can ensure regarding the witnesses to be present on the dates so fixed for examination of the concerned witness. With the aforesaid observations, the revisional application being CRR 4342 of 2023 is disposed of. Pending connected application, if any, is consequently disposed of.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
