1. Petitioner renews the prayer for bail.

2. Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for 2 years 6 months. He submits that out of 34 prosecution witnesses, 15 were examined and, therefore, trial is unlikely to commence any time soon.

3. Learned advocate appearing for the State draws the attention of the Court to the materials in the case diary. She submits that the petitioner before us is the contract killer. He slashed the throat of the victim.

4. De facto complainant is represented.

5. Petitioner before us stands implicated in a crime of murder. Materials in the case diary suggest that the petitioner before us is the contract killer. Trial is in progress. Out of 34 prosecution witnesses, 15 were examined.

6. Considering the gravity of the offence, involvement of the petitioner therein, the period of custody of the petitioner and the fact that trial is ongoing, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.

7. Prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected.

8. CRM (DB) 3765 of 2024 is dismissed.
