Due to a fair stand taken by the University, nothing remains to be decided in this writ petition. Initially the University declined to confer the Ph.D. degree to the petitioner only on the ground that some amount was due from him on account of house/quarter rent.

Today, the learned advocate for the petitioner submits that towards quarter rent, a sum of Rs. 50,000/- has been deposited by the petitioner with the University.

Mr.

Mukhopadhyay, learned advocate representing the University submits that there is no further claim on account of the quarter rent from the petitioner and the University is willing to confer him the Ph.D. degree in the convocation scheduled to be held on December 16, 2022.

The writ petition need not be kept pending.

The petitioner will be allowed by the University to register his name through online and the University will confer him the Ph.D. degree in the convocation scheduled to be held on December 16, 2022.

With the aforesaid directions, WPA 26842 of 2022 is disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.

Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
