Learned Counsel for the petitioner submits there is no progress in the matter since rejection of bail in February, 2023.

Learned Counsel for the State opposes the prayer for bail and submits charge has been framed and date has been fixed for recording evidence.

Learned Counsel for the defacto complainant also opposes the prayer for bail.

We have considered the materials on record.

Petitioner/husband chopped the hand of his wife. Part of her hand has been amputated. Bail prayer of the petitioner was

rejected in February, 2023. Thereafter date has been fixed for recording evidence. Under such circumstances and in view of gravity of the offence we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.

The application for bail is, thus, rejected.

Trial court is directed to conduct the trial with utmost expedition and conclude the same at an early date preferably within one year from the next date fixed for recording evidence without granting unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties.
