The petitioner, on December 08, 2001 had joined the Department of ASEPAN, (presently known as Agronomy) of Visva-Bharati University as a lecturer and on January 11, 2011, he was promoted to the post of Associate Professor. The promotion of the petitioner to the next higher post i.e. Professor was due on January 11, 2014, accordingly on May 13, 2014, he had applied for such promotion under the Career Advancement Scheme of the University Grants Commission.

The University, by the impugned communication bearing No. Est./E-I/CAS/2019-20 dated July 07, 2019 has rejected the said application of the petitioner. Learned advocate for the University, on the basis of the written instruction of her client dated May 01, 2025 submits that the University is ready to reconsider the prayer of the petitioner for such promotion. The said written instruction is taken on record.

In view of such stand, the aforementioned impugned communication dated July 07, 2019 is set aside. The concerned authority of the University is directed to reconsider the prayer of the petitioner for promotion to the post of Professor (Stage - V) from the post of Associate Professor (Stage - IV) as expeditiously as possible in accordance with law. W.P.A. 27227 of 2024 is disposed of with the above terms without any order as to costs.
