Petitioner is in custody for more than seven years. He submits there is slow progress in trial. Accordingly, he prays for bail.

Learned Advocate for State opposes the bail prayer and submits report.

We have considered the materials on record. There are ample evidence connecting the petitioner with the crime. Offences, if proved, would attract mandatory life imprisonment. Prosecution evidence is at its fag end. 4.

Under such circumstances and in view of gravity of offence, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage.

Accordingly, the prayer for bail of petitioner is rejected.

We request the trial court to conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible preferably within one year from the next date fixed for recording evidence without granting unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties. 7.

Parties shall communicate this order to the trial court for due compliance.
