The petitioner participated in the recruitment process of Lady Constable (GD) in Central Armed Police Forces (in short, "CAPFs"), SSF and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles Examination, 2024.

At the Physical Standard Test (in short, 'PST'), the height of the petitioner was measured as 156.1 cms. As per the selection criteria, the petitioner has to be of height of 157 cms. In case a candidate's height is 156.5 cms. or above, then under the rules the candidate is given the benefit and is considered to be of 157 cms. in height.

The petitioner in the instant case is not entitled to the benefit as per the rules. Although the petitioner says that in an earlier selection process for appointment of Constable (GD) in CAPF, the petitioner was found to be of height of 157 cms. That statement alone cannot confer any right to the petitioner to seek the relaxation. Although PST took place on 2nd November, 2024 and the writ petition has been filed on 18th November, 2024, but as submitted by the respondents on 13th December, 2024 the selection list has been published by Staff Selection Commission (in short, SSC) being the agency through which the examination was conducted and has also been uploaded in their official website. Considering the height of the petitioner and that the selection list has already been published, I do not find that any fruitful purpose will be served by keeping the writ petition pending.

The writ petition is accordingly dismissed.
