By filing this public interest litigation the petitioners seek for a direction to issue appropriate direction on the third respondent, namely, Irrigation and Waterways Directorate, to repair a bridge which had collapsed. From the annexure to the writ petition it is seen that already a new project has been implemented for construction RCC bridge and a sum of Rs.12,33,30,765/- has been sanctioned and the source of fund is through GAP. Therefore, the work, which is in progress, cannot be interdicted and the authority is entitled to proceed with the said project. 2.

It is submitted by the learned advocate for the petitioners that there is an existing bridge which connects two blocks and three assembly constituencies which has collapsed and they seek repairing of the existing bridge and not construction

of a new bridge. In this regard a mass petition has given to the third respondent.

Thus, without going into the merits of the matter, we direct the third respondent to consider the representation of the petitioners and examine the feasibility of repairing the existing bridge which has collapsed after conducting site inspection in presence of the Block Development Officers, namely, the 6th and 7th respondent and pass a reasoned order within 12 weeks from the date of receipt of the server copy of the order.

With the aforesaid direction, this writ petition is disposed of.
