SGA Ms. Pritha Paul ... for the State-respondent(s) Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for seven years and eleven months and the prosecution is protracting the trial, as such, the same is not being concluded.

On the other hand, learned advocate for the State submits that out of the 43 witnesses proposed to be examined by the prosecution, 42 witnesses have already been examined and the trial is at the verge of completion, a prayer has been advanced by one of the accused persons, consequently, trial is being stretched.

Having considered that in CRM (M) 2440 of 2025, a direction was passed by this Hon'ble court to pronounce the verdict by 30th April, 2026, at this stage, I am not inclined to enlarge the petitioner on bail.

Hence, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is Rejected.

Accordingly, CRM(M) 2544 of 2025 is dismissed. Pending application(s), if any, is also disposed of. Parties to act on a server copy of this order duly collected from the official website of the Hon'ble High Court, Calcutta.
