1. The petitioner participated in the recruitment process of CAPFs for the year 2024. He succeeded till the stage of document verification. At the time of document verification, it was detected that there is a mismatch in the name of his parents in the application form filed by the petitioner and the matriculation certificate relied upon by him.

2. The petitioner relies upon the application made by him before the authority in August, 2023 requesting permission to rectify the name of his parents.

3. Submission of the petitioner is that despite repeated requests, the authority did not permit the petitioner to rectify the error in the spelling in the name of his mother and the middle name of his father.

4. The correct name of the mother of the petitioner is 'LAXMI SHAW' and the name of the petitioner's father is 'SATYENDRA KUMAR SHAW'.

5. The name of the parents of the petitioner is mentioned in the matriculation certificate annexed at page-21 of the writ petition.

6. Learned advocate representing the Union of India has obtained instruction from the authority and submits that the matter may be relegated to the Regional Director (ER), Staff Selection Commission, respondent no. 3 for taking a decision in the matter.

7. Upon hearing the submissions made on behalf of both the parties it appears that a decision is required to be taken by the competent authority of the respondents with regard to the petitioner's prayer for correcting the mistakes in the name of the parents of the petitioner.

8. Accordingly, the instant writ petition is disposed of by directing the respondent no. 3 to take a decision on the petitioner's prayer for making necessary corrections in his application form in tune with the details mentioned in his matriculation certificate at the earliest but positively within a period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order.

9. If the prayer of the petitioner for rectification is allowed, then necessary consequential steps shall be taken by the authority without any further delay.

10. If the prayer is rejected, then reason(s) for rejection shall be intimated to the petitioner without any delay.

11. The writ petition stands disposed of.

12. Parties to act on the basis of the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.

13. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance of all requisite formalities. (Amrita Sinha, J.)
