Learned advocate appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for more than 200 days and chargesheet has already been submitted. As such, further detention of the petitioner is unwarranted in connection with the instant case. Mr. Shantanu Deb Roy, learned advocate appearing on behalf of the State opposes the prayer for bail of the present petitioner and produces the case diary.

Learned advocate for the State also draws the attention of this court to the fact that the petitioner happens to be a foreigner and she was apprehended at the border of India.

Having regard to the nature and gravity of the offence, I am not inclined to release the petitioner on bail.

Learned trial court is directed to take steps so that the trial of the case is expedited and the same be completed at the earliest. Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the present petitioner is rejected.

With the aforesaid observations, the application for bail, being CRM (SB) 290 of 2022 is disposed of.
