The petitioners claim to be possessing and enjoying a part of the land in the Northern part of Santragachi Jheel and are running their business of household articles for a considerable period of time. They are aggrieved by the action taken by the railway authorities in evicting and removing them from the said place without granting them reasonable time to relocate.

It appears from the submissions made on behalf of the respective parties and on perusal of the documents annexed to the writ petition that steps are being taken by the railways for eviction and removal of the unauthorized encroachers from the railway area by the side of Santragachi Jheel for proper preservation of ecological balance of the

water body in compliance of the orders passed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) from time to time.

As the railways are taking action pursuant to the order passed by a competent judicial forum, accordingly, it will be open for the petitioners to approach the National Green Tribunal for necessary relief, if so advised.

The writ petition stands disposed of.
