Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner is the sister-in-law of the respondent no.4. There is a matrimonial dispute between the petitioner's brother and his wife, the respondent no.4. On the date on which the wife/respondent no.4 came to take back her streedhan articles in presence of police personnel, the private respondents suddenly started assaulting the petitioner and her other family members. The victims suffered bleeding injuries, but the police did not act.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State relies on the report and submits as follows. There are cases and counter cases pending between the private parties. However,

on the incident as alleged, the police have already registered Kasba PS Case No.56 dated 09.02.2024 under Sections 341, 324 and 34 of the Penal Code. Earlier, another case being Kasba PS Case No.457 dated 06.11.2023 had been registered against the petitioner on the complaint of the respondent no.4 under Sections 341, 323 and 34 of the Penal Code. Both the cases are being investigated.

It appears that police have already taken steps by registering FIRs on allegations from both sides. Let the investigations be concluded expeditiously and in accordance with law.

With these observations, the writ petition is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order may be supplied to the parties expeditiously, if applied for. (Jay Sengupta, J.)
