The petitioner has preferred the present writ petition, being aggrieved by the inaction on the part of the respondent municipality in not granting her retiral dues, even after the lapse of four years since her superannuation.

It is the case of the petitioner that she had retired from the service as Education Officer and Chief Inspector of School from Howrah Municipal Corporation, on 31.07.2021. Although she was initially appointed on a contractual basis for a period of one year in the scale of Rs. 1,420-3,130/-, by virtue of an order dated 28.11.1994 being memo no.
290G/Commissioner issued by the Commissioner, Howrah Municipal Corporation. It is pertinent to mention that due to her consistent and dedicated service, she was
subsequently absorbed as a permanent employee. The petitioner submitted her pension application on 03.03.2021, however, despite the passage of considerable time, no affirmative steps have been taken by the respondent authorities. Her pension and other retiral dues remain unsettled even after four years of her retirement. The petitioner has filed various representations, including one dated 09.02.2024, before the respondent-municipality, but the same has not been acted upon.

Learned Counsel for the respondent-Howrah Municipal Corporation states that the authorities are ready and willing to decide petitioner's representation dated 09.02.2024.

Learned Counsel for the petitioner states that his client shall be satisfied if the same is decided within a time bound manner.

In view of the statements made by the parties, this Court directs the respondent-Howrah Municipal Corporation to decide petitioner's representation dated 09.02.2024 within a period of six weeks from the date of communication of this order after affording an opportunity of personal hearing to the petitioner by way of a speaking order.

With the above direction, the present writ petition is disposed of.

Since no affidavits have been filed by the respondents, the allegations made in the writ petition shall not be deemed to have been admitted.

There shall be no order as to costs.

Let urgent Photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties on usual undertaking.
