Learned advocate appearing for the petitioners is directed to serve copy of this revisional application upon Mr. Rafiqul Islam, learned advocate, who ordinarily appears for the State. His appointment may be regularised by the concerned authorities.

The prayer of the petitioners is for expeditious disposal of Dum Dum Police Station Case No. 701 of 2018. The learned advocate for the petitioners submits that although the case was instituted more than five years ago, but till date only charges have been framed and none of the witnesses has been examined. The learned advocate submits that there are six witnesses on whom the prosecution intends to rely upon. Having regard to the anxiety expressed by the petitioners, I am of the view that the learned trial court on and from the next date so fixed would ensure that at least one date is fixed in every month so that trial of the case can be taken to its logical conclusion within a reasonable period of time.

If any witness does not appear, the Inspector-in-Charge of Dum Dum Police Station would be notified for ensuring the availability of the witness concerned. The Inspector-in-Charge

of Dum Dum Police Station would submit a report regarding the availability or non-availability of witness on the date so fixed by the learned trial court.

All efforts be taken so that the evidence of all the six prosecution witnesses be completed by 31.03.2025. The learned trial court would thereafter take the trial to its logical conclusion.

With the aforesaid observations, the revisional application being CRR 4528 of 2023 is disposed of. Pending connected application, if any, is consequently disposed of.

All concerned parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
