The writ petitioner, upon instruction, submits that he will take the necessary steps for the self-demolition of the unauthorised construction at premises No. 17, Friends Club Library Road, Howrah-711112, P.S. Jagachha, under Ward No. 47 of Howrah Municipal Corporation. He seeks a reasonable time to complete the self-demolition.

In view of the above, Howrah Municipal Corporation shall refrain from executing the demolition notice dated July 3, 2024, for a period of two months from the date of this order.

The petitioner is directed to demolish the unauthorized construction, as specified in the demolition order dated July 3, 2024, within the aforementioned two-month period.

It is clarified that if the petitioner fails to carry out the demolition within the prescribed period, Howrah Municipal Corporation shall proceed with the demolition in accordance with the law.

The petitioner shall commence the self-demolition process within seven days from the date of this order and shall duly notify the Corporation about the same. The Corporation shall also assign a competent officer to supervise the demolition work.

Accordingly, WPA 27840 of 2024 is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the learned advocates for the parties on usual undertakings.
