Petitioner contends she is the mother-in-law of the victim housewife. Principal accused i.e. husband is on regular bail. Accordingly, she prays for anticipatory bail. 2.

Learned Advocate for the State opposes the prayer for anticipatory bail. He submits victim housewife was tortured over demands of dowry and committed suicide.

We have considered the materials on record. Marriage took place in 2017. Allegations of torture are general and omnibus. Incident occurred seven years after marriage. Principal accused is on regular bail.

Under such circumstances, custodial interrogation of the petitioner for progress of investigation is not necessary and she may be granted anticipatory bail.

Accordingly, we direct that in the event of arrest, the petitioner viz., Bhabani Mondal be released on bail upon furnishing a bond of Rs.10,000/-, with two sureties of like Signed By : ALOK SETH High Court of Calcutta 29 th of November 2024 04:53:05 PM

amount each, to the satisfaction of the Arresting Officer and also subject to the conditions as laid down under Section 482(2) of the BNSS. She shall appear before the jurisdictional court and pray for regular bail within four weeks from date. 6.
