1. Petitioner is in custody in excess of 7 years 7 months.

2. Normally, one would be inclined to grant bail for such a period of detention. However, in the facts of the present case, the trial is at the fag end with the Investigating Officer remaining to be examined and cross-examined.

3. Petitioner stands implicated in murder.

4. Considering the gravity of the offence and involvement of the petitioner therein, the quantum of punishment that the petitioner may suffer if found guilty and the fact that the trial is at the fag end, we do not find it desirable to grant bail to the petitioner.

5. We, however, request the learned trial Judge to conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible and not to grant any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties.
