Mr. Niladri Sekhar Ghosh, Ms. Sompurna Chatterjee, Ms. Labani Sikder ...for the private respondents The petitioner is an octogenarian. He alleges that the private respondents are pressurizing him to transfer his property in their favour by executing deed of gift.

The petitioner is being put to life threats for not acceding to their demand for execution of the deed of gift. A complaint was lodged before the police but as there was no response, the instant writ petition has been filed.

Learned advocate representing the private respondents submits before the Court that they

will not put any threat to the petitioner for transfer of the property in their favour.

Admittedly, the property-in-question is in the name of the petitioner. The private respondents are restrained from interfering with the possession of the petitioner in the subject property.

The police shall ensure that there is no breach of peace in the locale.

It will be open to the petitioner to return to his property and possess the same.

The police is directed to take appropriate steps in response to the complaint lodged by the petitioner on October 31, 2023.

The report filed by the police be retained with the record.

Writ Petition No. 26877 of 2023 stands disposed of.

Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties expeditiously on compliance of usual legal formalities.
