The learned advocate appearing for the petitioners submits that the State-respondents have been duly served. In spite of service none appears for the State. Mr. Chatterjee, learned advocate, who usually represents the State is present in Court and is requested to appear in this matter.

Let a copy of the writ petition be served upon Mr. Chatterjee forthwith.

Let the appointment of Mr. Chatterjee along with a junior of his choice be regularised by the concerned authority.

Mr. Mukherjee, learned advocate appears for the Union of India.

The petitioners state that the father of the petitioners and the private respondent Nos.3 to 6 was the owner of a plot, which has been acquired and utilised for the purpose of extension of National Highway No.34. The petitioners have submitted a representation before the Additional District Magistrate (L.A.), requesting the said authority to disburse the compensation to the petitioners. The learned advocate appearing for the petitioners submits that no decision on such representation has been communicated to the petitioners till date.

Without entering into the merits of the claim made in the said representation, WPA 28090 of 2025 stands disposed of by directing the Additional District Magistrate (L.A.), Barasat, District-North 24-Paraganas to consider the representation of the petitioners, which was received by the Office of the respondent No.2 on August 19, 2025 and to pass a reasoned order after giving an opportunity of hearing to the petitioners, and any other person, who may be affected by such decision or their authorised representatives and communicate the reasoned order to the petitioner and others immediately thereafter. The entire exercise shall be completed as expeditiously as possible but positively within a period of 8 weeks from the date of receipt of a server copy of this order along with a copy of the representation annexed at page 46 of the writ petition, which was received by the Office of the respondent No.2 on August 19, 2025.

There will be no order as to costs.

All parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court. (Hiranmay Bhattacharyya, J.)
