It appears that the petitioner is a tenant in respect of a 50-square-foot rice godown located on the ground floor of premises no. 34, Market Street, Kolkata - 700087. The petitioner seeks an electricity connection at the said premises.

The relevant portion of the inspection report is extracted below:

"On the basis of the inspection, CESC submits that if the Hon'ble Court asks CESC as to whether supply can be given to the petitioner, CESC'S humble answer will be held that the supply can be given to the petitioner through a block meter."

In view of the above, there is no justification for keeping this writ petition pending.

The petitioner is granted liberty to apply for a block meter within a period of seven days from the date of this order. Upon submission of such application, and subject to the petitioner's compliance with all requisite formalities, CESC shall install a block meter in the name of the petitioner within a period of three weeks from the date of this order.

Accordingly, WPA 28517 of 2024 is disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
