Subsequently, the present application has been preferred by invoking the jurisdiction of this court.

Mr.

Banerjee, learned Senior Standing Counsel, appearing on behalf of the State, submits a report prepared by

the Officer-in-charge of Garfa Police Station. The report reflects that Garfa P.S.

Case No. 166 dated 05.12.2024 has been registered for investigation.

Learned advocate for the respondent no.6 is present and, opposes the contentions advanced on behalf of the petitioner and the steps taken by the State.

In view of the investigation having commenced, I direct the investigating authority to take the investigation of the case to its logical conclusion within a reasonable period of time.

Learned advocate for the petitioner apprehends that the petitioner is subject to threat and abuse.

In case, such circumstances arise, the petitioner will invoke the provisions enumerated in the Witness Protection Scheme, 2018.

With the aforesaid observations, WPA 28631 of 2024 is disposed of.

Report so submitted be kept with the record. Let a copy of the report be handed over to the learned advocate for the petitioner.
