2.
Petitioner has preferred the present writ petition being aggrieved by the inaction on the part of respondent-WBSEDCL in not granting electricity connection to him. 3.
It is the case of the petitioner that after the death of his father viz. Late Subal Chandra Nag, he along with other legal heirs inherited shop nos.7 and 22 in the ground floor of 'Kedia Market'. Petitioner runs his utensil shop in the name and style of 'Nag Basanalaya' from the said premises. He had applied for electricity connection and had deposited the quotation amount as demanded by respondent-WBSEDCL on 24.10.2024. However, till date no electricity connection has been granted to him by the respondent-WBSEDCL.
4.
Learned Advocate for the respondent-WBSEDCL submits that they will be in a position to grant electricity connection to the petitioner if adequate police protection is provided to them.
5.
Learned Advocate for the respondent no.4 (brother of the petitioner) submits that the entire property belongs to his client and that his client's father had given the total share to him. 6.
This is a civil dispute which has nothing to do with the grant of electricity connection to the petitioner's property. Parties are at liberty to get their disputes resolved in appropriate forums regarding title and other civil disputes.
7.
However, in view of the submission made by the learned Advocate for the respondent-WBSEDCL, this court directs the Officer-in-charge, Asansol South Police Station, Dist. Paschim Bardhaman to provide adequate police protection to the WBSEDCL authorities to carry out their duty in granting electricity connection to the premises of the petitioner. Costs for the same shall be borne by the petitioner.
8.
With the aforesaid directions, the writ petition is disposed of.
9.
There shall be no order as to costs.
10.
Let urgent Photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties on usual undertaking. (Gaurang Kanth, J.)
