Petitioner is aggrieved by the annual valuation of a property at holding no.48/5, Dakshin Buxarah 1st Bye Lane, Howrah, under Howrah Municipal Corporation, Ward No.41.
It is the grievance of the petitioner that in the year 2017, he received a notice revising the annual valuation of the property to Rs.3,477/- and the petitioner was asked to pay Rs.204/- per quarter. The petitioner says that without any notice, the Howrah Municipal Corporation again enhanced the annual valuation from Rs.3,477/- to Rs.13,771/-
without giving any notice for the assessment year 2019-2020.
Learned advocate representing the petitioner submits that he has made a representation dated September 15, 2023, before the Howrah Municipal Corporation for redressal of his grievance, but the same has not yet been considered.
Learned advocate appearing for the Howrah Municipal Corporation submits that the said representation from the petitioner may be considered in accordance with law.
In the aforesaid fact, I dispose of the writ petition with a direction to the Commissioner, Howrah Municipal Corporation to consider the representation of the petitioner dated September 15, 2023 within a period of one month from the date of communication of this order and to pass necessary orders with regard to the annual valuation of the relevant property. Needless to mention that the Commissioner shall hear the petitioner before passing his order. Accordingly, the writ petition being WPA 27497 of 2023 is disposed of.
