The petitioner is aggrieved by the alleged inaction on the part of the Bagnan Police Station, Uluberia, Howrah in attending to his complaint dated September 5, 2022.

It appears that in connection with the death of the petitioner's son on a railway track in between Damodar River Bridge and Kulgachia Railway Station, a U/D Case being Uluberia GRPS U/D Case No. 63/22 dated 19.08.2022 was registered by the Uluberia GRPS. On the petitioner's complaint, however, the Bagnan Police Station has registered FIR being Bagnan Police Station Case No. 08/23 dated 03.01.2023 under Sections 306/120B of the IPC.

In that view of the matter, although there appears to be some delay in registering the FIR but steps have been taken.

The police shall be more cautious in future and promptly register an FIR on complaints that disclose cognizable offences.

It is expected that the investigation into the subject FIR shall be completed as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of 2 months from date.

With the aforesaid observations, the writ petition shall stand disposed of.

The instructions of the Bagnan Police Station dated 06.02.2023, addressed to the learned Government Pleader, is kept with the record.

There shall be no order as to costs.

All parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
