The petitioner has preferred the present writ petition being aggrieved by the inaction on the part of the respondent authorities in granting the electricity connection which he had sought for his agricultural purposes.

It is the case of the petitioner that he is the owner of the agricultural land situated at Village and Mouza - Popara, Dag No322, P.S.- Sagardighi, DistMurshidabad, Pin742226.

For the purposes of irrigation, he installed a submersible pump on his land and duly applied for an electricity connection. In compliance with the procedural requirements he deposited the requested quotation amount on 01.08.2024. However, despite repeated follow ups no concrete steps were taken by the respondent authorities to effectuate the electricity connection.

Learned Counsel appearing on behalf of the respondentWBSEDCL has submitted that the

respondent authorities is prepared and willing to grant the electricity connection. He has handed over a copy of the instruction dated 11.03.2025. The same is taken on record.

As per the instructions received from the concerned department it has been placed on record that the Boro Cultivation season has commenced and as per the available field report, the necessary clearance for the erection of electricity poles shall be obtained only once the cultivation season concludes. It is further stated that the process of erection of poles is scheduled to commence after the field receives adequate clearance and the connection can be effected within the last week of May to the end of June 2025. Subject to the availability of the necessary way-leave permission, the respondent authority has assured that the electricity connection for the petitioner's submersible pump shall be granted thereafter. The petitioner states that he has no objection if the connection is granted by June 2025.

In view of the submissions made by the learned Counsel for the respondent and the unambiguous consent provided by the petitioner, this Court directs the respondent authority to strictly adhere to the commitment made before this Court and ensure that the electricity connection is granted to the petitioner positively by June 2025, after the petitioner complying with necessary formalities.

With the above direction, the present writ petition is disposed of.
