Mr. Debdip Mandal ........for the petitioner Ms. Koyeli Bhattacharyya Mr. Bibek Dutta Ms. Keya Panja ......for the WBCSSC Mr. Supriya Chattopadhyay Ms. Iti Dutta ......for the State In terms of order dated 2nd April, 2024 a report in the form of affidavit has been filed on behalf of West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and same is taken on record.

From the said report it appears that question no. 5.3 of History paper in connection with Madhyamik Pariksha (Secondary Examination), 2023, had two parts, first part was carrying five marks and next part was carrying three marks.

In paragraph 5 of the said report, it has been clarified that three marks was awarded out of five for answer to first part of question no. 5.3 whereas two marks was awarded out of three for answer to next part of question no. 5.3.

Therefore, against question no. 5.3 total marks were awarded five.

Writ petition was filed under the impression that both parts of question no. 5.3 were not awarded marks.

Now in view of the report filed on behalf of the Board, it appears that separate marks were awarded to the answers to both sub-questions under question no. 5.3.

In view of aforesaid clarification, no further order need be passed in the writ petition excepting an observation that henceforth examiners should award separate marks to the answers of sub-questions under one particular question.

The writ petition stands disposed of, without any order as to costs.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties on usual undertaking.
