The petitioner is an Assistant Teacher of Joynagar Shyamnagar FP School under Bhangar North Circle of DPSC, 24 Parganas (South). The petitioner is praying general transfer on the ground that he is a surplus teacher in the school and the distance between his residence and the school is more than 170 kms.

The ground of distance is not much convincing. The school has role strength of 249 students having eight teachers, therefore the PTR is almost normal; as such the petitioner cannot be considered to be a surplus teacher of the said school, as a result, the prayer of the petitioner for general transfer is refused.

WPA 29182 of 2024 is thus dismissed without any order as to costs.
