Affidavit-of-service filed in court today be kept with the record.

The petitioner has preferred the present writ petition, being aggrieved by the non-grant of electricity connection by the respondent-CESC Ltd.

It is the case of the petitioner that she is the co-sharer of the premises being Howrah Municipal Corporation Holding No.3, Netaji Subhas Road, P.O., P.S. and Dist. Howrah. She is running her business from the said premises in the name and style of 'M/s. Sandipa Store'. She had applied for electricity connection vide application dated 19.07.2024. The respondentCESC Ltd. conducted an inspection on 22.07.2024. Thereafter, respondent-CESC Ltd. vide letter dated 23.07.2024 requested the petitioner to identify the place for installation of meter. Petitioner had deposited the quotation amount on 15.10.2024. However, till date, no electricity connection has been granted to her.

Learned Advocate for the respondent-CESC Ltd. submits that the electricity connection could not be granted to the petitioner due to objections raised by the respondent no.3 herein. She further submits CESC Ltd. authorities are ready and

willing to grant electricity connection to the petitioner within a period of two weeks from today provided adequate police protection is granted to them.

This court has heard the arguments advanced by both the parties.

In the present case, admittedly, the petitioner is the cosharer of the premises. For effective enjoyment of the same, electricity connection is necessary.

Accordingly, this Court direct the Officer-in-charge, Howrah Police Station (respondent no.4) to provide adequate police protection to the respondent-CESC Ltd. so that they can provide electricity connection to the petitioner. If necessary, CESC Ltd. authorities are at liberty to break open the padlock. 8.

With the aforesaid directions, the present writ petition is disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.
