The petitioners wish to hold a cultural programme and a blood donation camp as well as a foundation laying ceremony of a trust building which is stated to be charitable.

Normally cultural and charitable functions are not obstructed by any authority. However, since a foundation laying ceremony is proposed along with the functions on a piece of land which the petitioners claim belonged to them, the police need to verify the bona fides of such claim.

It is submitted by Mr. Banerjee, learned senior counsel for the State that initial enquiries have raised some suspicions.

The O. C., Hingalganj Police Station shall prima facie verify the permissions/title/entitlement of the petitioners to hold the foundation laying ceremony and

the cultural functions on the land-in-questions. After such verification, the Police may take an appropriate decision in the matter.

For the aforesaid purpose, the petitioners'

representative shall visit the O. C., Hingalganj Police Station tomorrow (16.12.2023) at 10 a.m.

The petitioner shall communicate this order to the O. C., Hingalganj Police Station and Mr. Banerjee shall also communicate the gist of the order to the O. C., Hingalganj Police Station.

The writ petition is disposed of.

8.

There will be no order as to costs.

All parties are directed to act on a server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
