The writ petitioners had approached this Court with the plea that they are carrying on their works as vendors/hawkers at Ramcharan Seth Road, Howrah near the bus stand.

The Howrah Municipal Corporation had started construction on a modern bus stand in that area in March, 2014 and the petitioners sometime in August and September, were threatened by the police authorities to evict from the place of their activity. The writ petition is pending for last seven years and after 16.01.2015 it has come up for hearing for the first time. It is not clear if the grievance of the petitioners is still surviving.

Learned counsel for the State has pointed out that if the petitioners have any surviving grievance they can very well approach the respondent no. 4, Commissioner, Howrah Municipal Corporation who can look into their problem.

Hence, the present writ petition is disposed of giving the liberty to the petitioners to approach the respondent no. 4, in case, if they have any surviving grievance. If any complaint is made by the petitioners to the respondent no. 4 then the same will be duly considered and appropriate steps in accordance with law would be taken by the said respondent without any delay.
