1. The grievance of the petitioner is directed against a notice of disconnection issued by the respondent CESC Limited. It is submitted on behalf of the petitioner that the bills raised on behalf of the CESC Limited are grossly inflated and exorbitant.

2. On behalf of the CESC Limited it is submitted that despite a final order of assessment having been passed on 23rd May, 2018, the petitioner has failed to take necessary steps and has been sleeping over his rights.

3. The State is also represented.

In view of an effective statutory alternative remedy available under the Electricity Act, 2003 and in the light of the decisions in The West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. & Ors. - Vs.- Pranab Kumar Sarkar [MAT/1875/2015] as well as Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation Limited & Anr. -Vs.- Kalavanti Doshi Trust & Ors. 2011(1) CHN (Cal) 182, the entire case of the petitioner appears to be misconceived and not maintainable.

5. The petitioner has chosen not to avail the statutory alternative efficacious remedy. The time period for filing the statutory appeal has also expired under Section 127 of the Act.

6. In view of the above, the entire object of the petitioner is to revive a dead claim in a circuitous manner. There is no bonafides in filing of this writ petition.

7. WPA/29300/2025 stands dismissed.

8. However, there shall be no order as to costs. (Ravi Krishan Kapur, J.)
