Affidavit of service filed by the petitioner and the report submitted by the State are taken on record.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner acquired title in respect of the property in question by virtue of a decree granted by a competent civil Court and his name was recorded in the record of rights. Subsequently the 8th respondent who is the Block Land & Land Reforms Officer surreptitiously and illegally recorded the name of the 9th respondent in respect of a portion of the said property. The petitioner approached the 8th respondent for correction of record of rights despite which no step was taken. The petitioner lodged a complaint before the jurisdictional police authority seeking a direction upon the Block Land & Land Reforms Officer to correct the record of rights and record the portion of the land in his favour.

Pursuant to such complaint an enquiry has been held by the police authority. The report submitted by the State indicates that the dispute between the parties is civil in nature and pertains to the Block Land & Land Reforms

Officer, Baruipur and the Sub-Divisional Land & Land Reforms Officer, Baruipur.

Since the complaint lodged by the petitioner seeks necessary steps against the Block Land & Land Reforms Officer for recording the petitioner's name in the record of rights, the petitioner is at liberty to approach the appropriate forum for redressal of his grievance. Correction of record of rights is beyond the purview of the present complaint. In view of the above, the writ petition is dismissed. There shall however, be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit is invited, the allegations contained in the petition are deemed not to have been admitted. Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
