The petitioner retired from service as conductor on 31.01.2022. He prays for interest of delayed payment of arrears which accrued under the ROPA-1998. Such arrears and benefits have been paid in five instalments in 2000 to 2008.

In the above circumstances, since admittedly delayed payment of retiral benefits attracts interest, let the same be paid at the rate of 7 per cent per annum on the total amount of arrears proportionately with date of release of each instalment.

Let such interest be calculated and paid to the petitioner within a period of one month from date. 5.

The writ petition is disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.

All parties are directed to act on a server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
