The petitioner asserts that she is a tenant under respondent no. 4 and seeks a separate electricity connection for the portion of the premises she occupies. Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) submits that the petitioner previously received electricity through Meter No. 3394780, against Consumer ID No. 03002023001, which was registered in the name of the landlord. However, the said meter was disconnected due to non-payment of electricity bills.

CESC further states that, should the petitioner deposit the outstanding dues, service charges, and other incidental fees, a separate electricity connection may be provided in her favour.

The petitioner has expressed her willingness to make the said payments.

In light of the above, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to CESC Limited to provide a fresh commercial electricity connection to the petitioner, subject to her payment of the outstanding dues and incidental charges as mentioned, within two weeks from the date of this order.

Upon fulfillment of all requisite formalities by the petitioner, CESC Limited shall ensure the electricity connection is provided from the existing meter board within two weeks thereafter.

The Officer-in-Charge of Gariahat Police Station is directed to extend necessary police assistance to the officials of CESC Limited, the cost of which shall be borne by the petitioner.

Accordingly, WPA 29881 of 2024 is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the learned advocates for the parties on usual undertakings.
