Affidavit-of-service filed in court today is taken on record. 2.

The petitioner has preferred the present writ petition, being aggrieved by the inaction on the part of the respondentWBSEDCL in not granting electricity connection for his domestic use.

It is the case of the petitioner that he resides at his undivided ancestral property located at Rajarhat, Jagadishpur, North 24-Parganas. There was an existing electricity connection in the said premises in the name of his deceased father. However, due to natural calamity viz. 'Amphan', the service line of the said electricity meter was uprooted. The petitioner tried to rectify the same, however, due to objection raised by private respondent no.5 and his family members, the service line could not be restored. Thereafter, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 28.05.2024 before the respondent no. 3 for surrendering the old meter which was in the name of the

deceased father of the petitioner and to grant two new separate meter in favour of the petitioner and the respondent no. 5. However, despite several reminders, the respondent-WBSEDCL failed to address his grievance.

Learned Advocate for the respondent-WBSEDCL submits that they are ready and willing to grant electricity connection to the petitioner subject to the availability of police protection since they are encountering stiff resistance from private respondent no.5.

In view of the aforesaid submission made by the learned Advocate for the respondent-WBSEDCL, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the Officer-in-charge, Rajarhat Police Station (respondent no.4) to provide adequate police protection to the respondent-WBSEDCL in carrying out the necessary installation work as well as granting electricity connection to the petitioner subject to all necessary compliances.The costs of the same shall be borne by the petitioner.

Learned Advocate for the petitioner submits that his client has no other grievance.

With the aforesaid directions, the present writ petition is disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.
