Petitioner is in custody for a considerable period of time. There is no progress in the matter. He renews his bail prayer.

Learned Advocate for State opposes the bail prayer. He contends date has been fixed for examination of investigating officers.

We have considered the materials on record.

Offence involves murder which, if proved, would attract mandatory life imprisonment. Trial has considerably progressed and date has been fixed for examination of the investigating officers.

In view of gravity of offence and the stage of the proceeding, we are of the opinion this is not a fit case to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage.

Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected.

Trial Court is requested to expedite the trial and conclude the same at an early date without granting unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties. (Gaurang Kanth, J.) (Joymalya Bagchi, J.)
