1. The learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for more than 1 year and 3 months and he is innocent of the charges although he has been shown to be an accused as he was present in the vegetable shop wherefrom the recovery of 37.37 kgs. of cannabis has been made.

2. The learned advocate for the State submits that the video recording was available and from there it reflects, so far as the complicity of the present petitioner is concerned.

3. Having considered the quantity of seizure, I am of the view that this is not a fit case for releasing the petitioner on bail, at this stage.

4. As such, the prayer for bail is rejected.

5. However, there was earlier direction to expedite the trial of the case. Accordingly, the learned trial court is directed to expedite

the trial and ensure that frequent dates for trial be fixed so that the trial can be taken to its logical conclusion.

6. Accordingly, CRM (NDPS) 21 of 2026 is dismissed.

7. All parties shall act in terms of server copy of the order downloaded from the official website of this Court.

8. Urgent Photostat certified copy of this order, duly applied for, be given to the parties upon compliance of all requisite formalities. (Tirthankar Ghosh, J.)
