1. Affidavit of service filed in Court today is taken on record.

2. The report of the Inspector-in-Charge, New Town Police Station dated 28th December, 2025 filed in Court today is taken on record.

3. The petitioner claims to be the wife of respondent no.8.

4. The petitioner alleges that the petitioner has been subjected to physical assaults, mental cruelty and domestic violence by the respondent no. 8. A complaint in that regard was lodged with the Officerin-Charge, New Town Police Station by a letter dated 23rd December, 2025.

5. Mr. Chatterjee learned advocate for the petitioner submits that no steps have been taken pursuant to the said compliant.

6. Learned advocate appearing for the State submits that the writ petition was filed on 24th December, 2025 alleging inaction on the part of the police authorities with regard to the complaint lodged on 23rd December, 2025. He further submits that steps have been taken by the police authorities and an FIR has already been registered being New Town Police Station Case No. 263/2025 dated 27th December, 2025 under Sections 85/115(2) of the BNS and Sections 3/4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act on the basis of the written complaint lodged by the petitioner.

7. It appears that the FIR has already been registered pursuant to the complaint lodged by the petitioner.

8. Learned advocate for the State submits that the investigation is in progress.

9. In light of the submissions made on behalf of the respective parties, WPA 29845 of 2025 stands disposed of by directing the investigating officer to conclude the investigation as expeditiously as possible and take consequential steps thereafter. 10.
