Adv., Mr. Subhabrata Das ...for the State Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits that the petitioner is retiring on 31st January, 2025. His case along with those of others was being considered for promotion. The process was initiated in October, 2023, yet till date the same has not been concluded.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State upon instructions submits that a panel for appointment on promotion has already been forwarded to the Director of Library Services on 3rd October, 2024.

It appears that the panel has been forwarded to the Director only on 3rd October, 2024. In the circumstances, the writ petition is disposed of by requesting the Director of Library Services/respondent no. 2 to decide on the

candidate(s) to be selected for promotion in accordance with law as expeditiously as possible. With this observation the writ petition is disposed of.

It is clarified that the merits of the case has not been gone into.
