...for the State Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits that the petitioner is retiring in July, 2025. His case along with those of others was being considered for promotion. The process was initiated in October, 2023, yet till date the same has not been concluded.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State upon instructions submits that a panel for appointment on promotion has already been forwarded to the Director of Library Services in October, 2024.

It appears that the panel has been forwarded to the Director only in October, 2024. In the circumstances, the writ petition is disposed of by requesting the Director of Library Services/respondent no. 2 to decide on the candidate(s) to be selected for promotion in accordance with law as expeditiously as possible.

With this observation the writ petition is disposed of. It is clarified that the merits of the case have not been gone into.

As affidavits were not called for, allegations contained in the writ petition are deemed not to have been admitted. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order may be supplied to the parties expeditiously, if applied for. (Jay Sengupta, J.)
