1. Learned counsel for the writ petitioner submits that the original application filed by the petitioner, bearing OA 1880 of 2020 (LRTT), has been pending since the year 2020 before the West Bengal Land Reforms and Tenancy Tribunal. Even the

connected condonation application has been allowed after the pendency of six long years.

2. Learned counsel seeks an early hearing of the main original application.

3. In view of the inordinate delay in disposal of the matter, we are of the opinion that appropriate orders should be passed in that regard.

4. While saying so, we take judicial notice of the fact that due to the dearth of Administrative Members in the West Bengal Land Reforms and Tenancy Tribunal, several matters are being stalled and inordinately delayed.

5. Upon our query, learned Senior Government Advocate, appearing on behalf of the State submits that the concerned Department in charge of such appointments is the Department of Land and Land Reforms and Refugee Relief and Rehabilitation Department, Government of West Bengal.

6. Accordingly, W.P.L.R.T. No. 227 of 2025 is disposed of by requesting the Fourth Bench, West Bengal Land Reforms and Tenancy Tribunal to dispose of the pending OA 1880 of 2020 (LRTT) as expeditiously as possible, positively within one year

from the date of communication of this order to the said Tribunal.

7. We also request the Land and Land Reforms and Refugee Relief and Rehabilitation Department of the Government of West Bengal to take appropriate steps for immediate appointment of the requisite number of Administrative Members to the West Bengal Land Reforms and Tenancy Tribunal, as envisaged under Section 4 of the West Bengal Land Reforms and Tenancy Tribunal Act, 1997. The Office shall forward a copy of this judgment to the aforesaid Department of the Government of West Bengal for taking necessary action.

8. There will be no order as to costs.

9. The parties, the learned Tribunal, as well as all concerned shall act on the server copy of this order, duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
