1. Matter is heard in presence of the learned advocates representing the petitioners, Union of India and State respondents.

2. Though matter has come up for extension of interim order passed earlier, but it appears on hearing learned senior advocates representing the petitioners and State respondents that present writ petition was filed in order to obtain the information as to the number of criminal proceedings pending against the petitioners and stage those criminal proceedings.

3. During course of hearing it has been brought to the notice by the learned senior advocate representing the State respondents that Inspector Police, Cyber Crime Wing Newtown, West Bengal has already informed vide writing dated 14th January, 2026 that there are two criminal proceedings pending against the petitioners being Barrackpore Cyber Crime P.S. Case No. 57/25 dated 5th November, 2025 and another is Bidhannagar Cyber Crime P.S. Case No. 69/24 dated 3rd April, 2024. It is also submitted on behalf of the parties that petitioners have obtained anticipatory bail in connection with criminal prosecution being Barrackpore Cyber Crime P.S. Case No. 57/25 dated 5th November, 2025. Order passed by the coordinate bench granting anticipatory bail is assailed before the Supreme Court by the State.

4. However, in connection with Bidhannagar Cyber Crime P.S. Case No. 69/24 dated 3rd April, 2024 a criminal revisional application is pending before a coordinate bench.

5. Considering the prayer couched in this writ petition, Court finds that scope of this writ petition need not be unnecessarily extended. It is found that vide writing dated 14th January, 2026 number of criminal proceedings pending

against the petitioners have already been intimated to the learned advocate for the State and petitioners are aware of the contents of such writing dated 14th January, 2026. This writing dated 14th January, 2026 of Inspector of Police, Cyber Crime Wing Newtown, West Bengal is part of an application taken out by the petitioners being CAN 2 of 2026 in connection with the present writ petition wherefrom it can be inferred that petitioners are aware of the contents of this writing dated 14th January, 2026.

6. Submission made on behalf State respondents is also recorded that as on date there is no alteration of situation and the aforesaid two criminal proceedings are pending against the petitioners.

7. In view of issuance of writing dated 14th January, 2026 by the Inspector of Police, Cyber Crime Wing Newtown, West Bengal the grievance ventilated in this writ petition appears to have been redressed.

8. Hence, no further order need be passed on this writ petition.

9. Writ petition stands disposed of.

10. Interim order passed earlier stands vacated.

11. However petitioners shall be at liberty to take steps in accordance with law in connection

with the criminal proceedings pending against them.

12. Applications, if pending, are also disposed of.

13. Urgent photostat certified copy of the order, if applied for, be given to the parties, upon usual undertakings.
