Report submitted by the learned advocate appearing for the State be also kept with the record. The petitioner has prayed for gun licence and to that effect applied before the Officer-in-Charge, Tapan Police Station. The petitioner has also applied for return of the gun.

The Officer-in-Charge is not the appropriate authority to issue such licence. The petitioner is granted liberty to file/submit his representation to the appropriate authority both for return of the gun and for renewal or issuance of licence in his favour. If such an application/representation is made to the appropriate authority, the concerned authority by adhering to the provisions of law will dispose of such representation of the petitioner within a period of sixty days from the date of filing of such application. The outcome of the decision of the appropriate authority would be communicated to

the petitioner within a period of fifteen days after the decision is taken by the appropriate authority. With the aforesaid observations, the writ petition being WPA 168 of 2025 is disposed of. There will be no order as to costs.

All concerned parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
