The petitioner undertakes to affirm and stamp the petition as per the Rules within 48 hours of resumption of normal functioning of the court. The petition is taken up through video conference on the basis of such undertaking.

The petitioner claims complete innocence and says some one in the petitioner's office may have been involved in the defalcation, but the petitioner does not have to be detained for the same. The State says that the petitioner was the postmaster when the defalcation took place and it was the password which was exclusively for use of the petitioner that was used for the purpose. Considering the material and the petitioner's possible involvement, the petitioner's custodial interrogation cannot be excused. CRM 6544 of 2020 and CRAN 1 of 2020 are disposed of.
