Case No.339 of 2017 dated 15.11.2017 under sections 20(b)(ii)(c)/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Substances Act. Mr. Uday Shankar Chattopadhaya Mr. Santanu Maji ...for the petitioner. Mr. Arijit Ganguly Mr. Sanjib Kumar Dan ... for the State. The advocate-on-record for the petitioner undertakes to affirm and properly stamp the petition as per the rules within one month of resumption of normal functioning of the court. The petition is taken up through video-conference on the basis of such undertaking. The alleged offence is under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. The incident occurred on 9th November, 2017.

According to the prosecution, a large amount of narcotic substances above the commercial quantity was seized from the possession of the present petitioner. This submission is denied by learned advocate appearing for the petitioner.

The petitioner is in custody for 1064 days.

Considering the gravity of the offence and the fact that the trial has commenced, we dispose of this application for bail by expediting the trial and directing that the trial should be concluded positively by 31st March, 2021.

This application for bail of the petitioner is rejected. CRM 6580 of 2020 along with CRAN 1 of 2020 is, thus, disposed of.
